Details
We initially build The Ruby Door’s website back in May of 2005, and very little updates were made between then and mid-2010.
Due to a fire that rendered their store inoperable, they found the need to make themselves a bigger web presence, and came back to us to redesign their site. This gave us the opportunity to use many of today’s web technologies in their redesigned site.
We scraped the open source software they were using, and re-built it from the ground up. An all new shopping cart and admin interface were built, taking advantage of my functions that were previously unavailable during their first site build.
The new site has integrated photo galleries, the ability to set a “sale” on an item, related products, a real-time shopping cart view for the customer, and a revolutionary newsletter manager.
This was one of the biggest projects we’ve taken on in recent years, and were very pleased with the outcome. Building this new shopping cart software allows us to re-use it for future e-commerce sites we’ll work on, simply creating a templated theme for it.
